Cork City are not likely to be prioritising this club friendly against Wolves as they have a Europa League qualifier against Hacken on Thursday night to worry about. Manager John Caulfield could therefore name a young side for this game, which is primarily a warm-up fixture for Wolves ahead of their Championship campaign.

Wolves will be heartened by the fact fellow Championship team Fulham won 3-0 at Turners Cross earlier in the month, so they should win this game. They are very short odds with the bookmakers however, so if we want to oppose the League of Ireland team we will have to be clever.

Cork, currently flying high in second place in the Irish league, will want to frustrate Wolves for as long as possible and their players may also see the game as a chance to impress watching scouts. Many LOI players have moved to the Championship in recent years and this is a rare opportunity to shine in the spotlight.

We will therefore take the 3/1 on offer with bet365 for Draw-Wolves in the HT/FT market, while a repeat of Fulham’s 3-0 win at Cork can be backed at a tempting 11/2, that bet also coming from bet365.

Wolves have never played Cork City before - this will be the first meeting between the teams.

Cork were beaten 3-0 by Wolves' fellow Championship side Fulham in a recent pre-season friendly, while Wolves began their own preparations with a 2-0 win at Crewe last time out.

Defenders John Kavanagh and John Dunleavy are expected to miss out for the League of Ireland outfit.

New Wolves goalkeeper Andy Lonergan could be given a chance to impress in this pre-season friendly.
