Hull have had the shortest break of all the 20 teams in the Premier League this season given they clinched promotion via the play-offs thanks to a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the end of May. Steve Bruce has since been linked with the England job and there is still a great deal of disgruntlement with the club’s owners so for a newly promoted side, Hull doesn’t seem like a pretty happy camp. They get their pre-season preparations going with 3 games against lower league or non-league opposition in the space of 5 days and this is the second of those games following their friendly with Grimsby the previous evening.

North Ferriby are very much a club moving in the right direction. Having spent most of their 82 years playing in regional leagues in the North of England, they will take up their place in the National League for the first time this season having clinched promotion via the play-offs last term. They finished 2nd in the National League North but Daniel Hone’s extra time goal in the play-off final saw them see of Flyde and make a bit of history.

This is a regular pre-season fixture so it’s a bit easier to gauge the sort of result we are likely to get here. Hull have visited in each of the past 3 summers and although they’ve never lost, they’ve never won by more than 2 goals so it is usually competitive. Hull’s congested pre-season schedule means they will have to field some youngsters here so their side could have an unfamiliar look to it which gives hope to North Ferriby, who have scored in all of their previous 3 meetings with Hull.

Therefore goals at both ends look likely again here but top flight quality should ultimately show and you can back Hull to win 2-1 at 17/2.

These sides have met in all of the last 3 summers. Both teams have scored in all 3 matches with Hull winning 2-1 and 3-1 and also drawing 1-1.

Hull lost just 2 of their final 10 games last season to clinch promotion. North Ferriby have lost just 1 of their last 8 home games.

Danny Clarke will captain the club for the first time having been unveiled as the new skipper on Thursday.

Hull are in action the previous night against Grimsby so there will most likely be a mix of senior and youth players in both games.
