Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians have each won one, lost one, and drawn four of their last six meetings with one another.

Bohemians have only lost 33% of their last six away days. Left back Luke Byrne and striking duo Gareth McCaffrey and Danny North are all injured, whilst wingers Gary McCabe and Killian Brennan are suspended. Left midfielder Adam Evans and striker Jake Kelly are out injured.

Shamrock Rovers’ foray into the Europa League was a brief one. Their 1-1 draw away to RoPS last Thursday wasn’t enough to turn around the 2-0 defeat they suffered on home soil, and as such they have exited the Europa League almost as quickly as they entered it.

Their form has dipped a bit overall, even prior to their European record, and they now have just two wins from their last seven matches in all competitions. This includes a league defeat at Wexford Youths, which has seen them be pushed down to 4th in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

They are only two points adrift of Derry City in 3rd though, and they have a game in hand, but the Dundalk and Cork City in the top two positions look almost out of sight now with their 17 point and 11 point leads respectively.

Bohemians, who finished just outside the Europa League qualifying spots last season, endured a pretty dismal period back in April and May. They went on a run of seven games without a win in all competitions, losing five times and being knocked out of the Irish League Cup.

However, they have managed to turn it around recently with five wins and two draws from their last seven games in all competitions. In the league they have picked up 11 points from their last five games, but due to their poor form before that they are still languishing in 9th position. Bohemians are only seven points adrift of the top four now though, so their league season isn’t over just yet.

Bohemians have only lost two of their last six away days in the Premier Division too, and they’re coming up against a Shamrock Rovers side who have failed to win any of their last three at home. This will be a big confidence booster for them, so my prediction is for a Bohemians Win or Draw Double Chance at 3/4, and I’m also backing a 1-1 correct score prediction at 5/1.
