Stuart Beavon and Kwame Thomas are set to return to the Coventry squad against Port Vale on Tuesday night.

Beavon was rested for the defeat at MK Dons at the weekend due to fatigue, while Thomas was injured, but both players are now back in full training.

However, fellow striker Marcus Tudgay is out after suffering an ankle injury against the Dons and the club are awaiting the results of a scan to determine the full extent of the damage.

Kevin Foley continues to struggle with an ankle problem, but Jordan Willis and Chris Stokes are both fine after suffering no ill-effects on their return from injury on Saturday.

Vale are likely to be without midfielder Callum Guy, who was forced off during the first half of Friday's victory over Shrewsbury with a hamstring injury.

Forward Anton Forrester will also be assessed after requiring treatement during the first half and not returning after the interval.

Doubts also remain over the fitness of Scott Tanser, Kjell Knops, Jerome Thomas and Danny Pugh.

On-loan QPR winger Olamide Shodipo should be available before linking up for international duty with Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

Coventry may already be down, but there’s still hope for Port Vale – a team who secured a vital win on Friday night. Vale, having bounced back to beat Shrewsbury last time out, come here in desperate need of points. However, as they’re now just two points form safety (with two games in hand) things are looking a lot better than they did just a few short weeks ago. Considering Coventry’s predicament, this appears to be a good opportunity for the visitors to continue their run.

Given there really is little to play for now from a Coventry point of view, plus the fact that they’ve nothing short of abysmal this season, it’s very hard not to fancy the visitors here. It’s surprising that Vale are as big in the betting as they are and, therefore, they’re worth supporting. At 6/4, ‘Port Vale Draw No Bet’ makes plenty of appeal.

The visitors are by no means a classy outfit, but they’ve certainly turned things around a bit of late. Michael Brown’s men are now scoring more goals – they scored at least once in each of their last six – and simply have more motivation that the hosts here. Two wins in their last three definitely shows an improvement, as does the fact that they’ve scored five goals in those two wins.

The season started badly for Coventry, it continued to go badly and is now going to end badly. The hosts were beaten again at the weekend (third consecutive loss) and are now on a win-less of six, losing five of those. Although defending is indeed a problem – just one clean sheet in their last 22 league matches – scoring goals is also proving very difficult. The hosts have now gone four matches without a goal, scoring just one in their last five and six in their last ten.

In all honesty, with the added motivation/realisation that a victory could lift them out of the drop-zone, Port Vale, who should be feeling confident after their win last time out, are fancied to get a result on Tuesday night.

Head To Head
