Germany U19 vs Netherlands U19 UEFA U19 Championship Match Preview And Prediction - July 21, 2016

Germany U19, who are hosting this UEFA U19 Championship, got off to a terrible start in the group stages as a 78th minute penalty saw Italy U19 claim a crucial 1-0 victory in the first group match. They followed this up with a much more entertaining but no less disappointing defeat against Portugal U19. Germany U19 took the lead after just 12 minutes, but three minutes into the second half Portugal U19 were 2-1 up. Phillip Ochs got his second of the game to draw Germany U19 level, but two goals in three minutes for Portugal put Germany U19 4-2 down. Ochs completed the most disappointing hat trick of his career in the 93rd minute as they lost 4-3.

Germany U19 did manage to get three second half goals against Austria U19 in the final group game to win 3-0 though, thus taking them to 3rd in their group and qualifying them for this World Cup playoff tie.

Overall Germany U19’s form has been patchy though. They have only won five of their last ten matches and have been on the wrong end of a losing scoreline three times. It doesn’t bode particularly well for the future of German football at the moment.

Netherlands U19’s overall form is better, but their showing in this UEFA U19 Championship has been well below par. They began the campaign with a 3-1 win over Croatia U19, but their second game saw them lose 2-1 to group winners England U19. They had the chance to take the second spot with a draw against France U19, but they were completely outclassed and ended the game 5-1 down.

These are Netherlands U19’s only defeats in their last 12 matches though, and five of their last eight games have ended in victory for them. However, you can’t ignore their defensive issues when coming up against talented opposition after conceding seven goals in their last two matches.

The last match between these two sides was a friendly game in September last year, with that one ending 2-1 to Germany U19. I think the host nation can get the victory here, despite their patchy form, just because they will have regained some confidence with a 3-0 win over Austria U19. Netherlands U19 will be extremely down after their thrashing against France U19, so my prediction is for a Germany U19 win at 5/6, and I’m going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 14/1 as well.

Germany U19 have won three and lost two of their five meetings with Netherlands U19.

Germany U19 have won 60% of their historic matches against Netherlands U19.
