SK Brann Bergen vs Aalesunds FK Tippeligaen Match Preview And Prediction - July 23, 2016

SK Brann Bergen are enjoying a very successful first season back in the Norway Eliteserien at the moment. They have managed to pick up some very good results in the first half of the season, and now we are just past the halfway point they find themselves in 5th position in the table with 27 points from their 16 games.

This success is largely down to their avoidance of bad spells of form. They haven’t lost more than one game in a row all season and you always fancy them to bounce back after a defeat. On the negative side of things, they haven’t managed to put together any really good runs of results either.

Brann come into this match having won three, drawn two, and lost two of their last seven matches in all competitions. Crucially, all of their defeats so far this season have come away from home, making for a very impressive home record. They are unbeaten in their seven home games and have won each of their last six. Even more impressively, Brann have conceded just a single goal all season on home turf, with that coming in their last home match as they beat Valarenga 4-1.

This isn’t the sort of record Aalesund will be happy about seeing. The visitors are in a very poor state of affairs at the moment. They have lost three of their last four games and won just one of their last 11 outings, losing six times.

Aalesund’s poor form this season unsurprisingly puts them in danger in the Eliteserien. They currently occupy 14th position in the table, which is the relegation playoff position. They are just a point clear of Valarenga below them and a point adrift of the safety that Stabaek treasure above them.

Away from home Aalesund have lost five of their last seven and won just once, and they have conceded four goals in each of their last three away days in all competitions.

Brann’s incredibly good defence at home and Aalesund’s shocking defensive record makes Brann heavy favourites in my opinion. My prediction is for Brann to Win to Nil, and considering they have kept a clean sheet in six of their seven home games odds of 13/8 for this outcome look very attractive. I’m going for a comfortable 2-0 win for my correct score prediction as well.

Brann have won three, drawn three, and lost one of their last seven meetings with Aalesund.

Brann have kept a clean sheet in 86% of their home games this season, winning 86% as well.

Brann are hoping to have a fully fit squad on Friday.

Right winger Edwin Gyasi and striker Franck Boli are both suspended for the visitors.
