Nordsjaelland have won four and drawn two of their last six meetings with Viborg and haven't lost to them since 2005.
Both teams have scored in 63% of Nordsjaelland's last eight away games and 57% of Viborg's last seven at home.
Centre back Jeroen Veldmate and winger Osama Akharraz are both sidelined with tendon and ligament problems.
Nordsjaelland are expecting to start the season with a clean bill of health.
Viborg managed to comfortably survive their first season back in the Danish Superliga last season. They came into the division after spending just one term back in the 2nd tier, and performed to a decent level throughout the campaign to finish in 8th position.
Their 40 point tally from their 33 matches was enough to give them a very comfortable 22 point lead over the relegated Hobro, but now they will look towards pushing further up the Superliga table and securing their position back in the Superliga after a dodgy few years.
Viborg’s pre-season hasn’t gone particularly well for them though. They lost all three of their friendlies in July, and combined with their poor end to the season they have only won two of their last nine matches, losing all of the other seven games.
Nordsjaelland continued their slow decline in Danish football last season. They eventually finished 9th in the table after a turbulent campaign, three positions lower than their finish the season before and a far cry from the title winning position they ended in back in the 2011/12 season.
They lost two of their three friendlies at the beginning of July as well, which takes their recent record to three wins, two draws, and seven defeats from their last 12 matches.
Nordsjaelland’s away record was a major stumbling block for them last season, and they have only won one of their last nine trips away from home. However, they have managed to find the net in six of their last eight, whilst Viborg have kept just one clean sheet on home turf in the last seven games.
Nordsjaelland have conceded 16 goals in these eight matches though, so I’m not expecting Viborg to have much trouble getting past their defence. However, my prediction is that they’ll need more than one goal to get the win on Friday, so I’m backing Both Teams to Score at 19/20 along with a 2-1 win for Viborg at 17/2 for my correct score prediction.
